According to the Northstar Regional MLS statistics, the average year-built for Edina real estate listings currently available is 1965. This is because Edina is a fully developed community with a number of homes that were built in the 1940’s. Wait a minute…. the1940’s? That was the WWII era. That’s right, but it is was not true for Edina real estate.  . Edina has always been vigilant about maintaining the quality of its housing and neighborhoods. If you time it right, you may be able to check out one of those 6000+ square foot stately mansions on almost a full acre of a hilltop setting. The starter homes in Edina are no exception. The Normandale addition features some fine bungalows and ramblers from the 1940’s. It is still possible to find some under 300k. Although Edina MN is classified as a fully developed community, there are still some opportunities for brand new construction. But don’t dawdle! Edina has always been a hot market, and new construction opportunities are limited. Check out Parkwood Knolls for an AM Stern inspired estate on a small pondside acreage, and a luxury home boasting a whopping 9,000+ square foot home. The $4+M price tags out here include mahogany walls and professional kitchen with a caterer’s pantry. Edina luxury homes like these give this city its reputation for fine living.

Edina is located on the southwest edge of Minneapolis, and is strategically located on major arteries like highways 100, 62, and 494. Population is just under 50,000, and is served by major employers like Nash Finch, International Dairy Queen, and Macy’s. Southdale is a bustling major indoor mall that is a major employer as well. Edina is known for its parks, recreation, and cultural perks, including the Art Center, Aquatic Center, and the well-known Braemer Golf Course.

The Edina School District #275 takes a back-seat to nobody for sports, academic opportunities and scholastic excellence. The athletic program was named one of the top ten in the nation by Sports Illustrated magazine. The district has also received numerous distinctions for music programs, foreign languages, literary and math achievements. Edina was one of the first districts in the state to receive the Senator’s Award for Excellence. With six top-notch elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school, the list of awards and distinctions would be literally several pages long. The school district is undoubtedly responsible for supporting the value of Edina homes.
