Lake Minnetonka from Tonka Bay Minnesota lakeshore

The City of Tonka Bay is home sweet home to this Realtor. The love affair with the area began in 1985 when my husband Ron and I took a drive from our home in the small town of Dayton, located in northwest Hennepin County, to the Lake Minnetonka berg of Tonka Bay. It was early Fall when we turned onto West Point Rd, weeping willows swaying along side a narrow canal on the left and the wetlands and willows on the right. It was love at first sight. We built our home, choosing the lot carefully, on a cul de sac for low traffic.

We live in the same home today, our children grown with families of their own, and the same love for this scenic neighborhood keeps us anchored, unwilling to budge. National averages say that families move once every 7 years. I show homes in the Lake Minnetonka area and I am always eagar to share my ongoing enthusiasm for the Lake Minnetonka communities.

When I asked our youngest child what language he would take in 9th grade, he said “I am thinking of taking Chinese.” After spending 2 years studying in China, and 1 year working in China. It has only been in the last few years that Chinese has become a popular language to take. Minnetonka high school offered Chinese as a subject in 1991 for our son. I’d say that the Minnetonka School System was way ahead of the mainstream educational system.

Ok, I admit we live in the same neighborhood as the current Mayer of Tonka Bay, Bill LaBelle. This neighborhood is extraordinary in many ways.
